I'm sorry that I've been so depressed and angsty lately in my journals. It's mostly because I have had little to celebrate these last few weeks.
The problems with my father are escalating. He is apparently moving out on the 1st of July. Not soon enough.
Today in particular has been one of the most difficult days to get through of my life so far. Over breakfast, my mom told me that a friend of mine from high school and her parents and younger brother were all hit by a one-ton truck last night. Her fiancee Luke was driving, and he was killed instantly. She and her family were all in critical condition. I spent most of the day in tears.
Then I got a phone call from another friend of mine this evening, saying that she had died.
You hear about this kind of thing on the news all the time, and it seems so sad that people so young with so much promise are killed on the road. You just never think it could be someone you know.
To make matters worse, as if they could get worse, when I went on the local newspaper's web site, there were not people mourning the loss of two wonderful people, but furthering their own political agendas by saying that this whole thing could have been avoided if we didn't let illegal Mexicans drive big trucks. I just don't understand why people are so... heartless.
Rest in peace, Erin and Luke. You will be missed.

When is your birthday? O.o
